Getting Ready for Guests: A Rustic Holiday Bedroom

*** This post is sponsored by RewardStyle and Walmart. All opinions are our own.***

The holiday season means overnight guests for many of us, and I’m no exception! We are so excited to welcome family members into our home for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
There’s nothing better than seeing all the cousins wake up, roll into the kitchen with bedhead, and cozy up with a morning hot cocoa!  But no bedhead is quite up to par without a good night’s rest and a good night’s rest comes when you’re comfortable.
I wanted my guest room to be transformed into a comfy, rustic holiday retreat and I did it thanks to the help of Walmart.

Have you shopped Walmart’s home lines recently?
All I can say is, “WOW!”
Their styles are on point and fitting to just about any home.
Their holiday decor has especially caught my attention lately.
The price points are fantastic, and did you know Walmart has FREE 2-day shipping on purchases $35+!?
You can also choose to ship to store and pick up there – which is super convenient.

I’m so excited about this holiday transformation!

In a few easy steps, and with a few cozy additions, I created a rustic holiday retreat fit for some of my favorite people!

First up, some seasonal throw pillows.

I snagged 3 of these
I absolutely love the fair isle print. It’s a print that has a holiday vibe, but can really be used all season long. Pillows are, in my opinion, the easiest decor to switch up. They’re inexpensive, and add a pop of color to any base. Of course, this pop screams “holidays” with the green and red hues.
I wish you could FEEL these throw pillows. They have a knitted feel – like a real sweater- and I’m obsessed.
They’re also a great size, 20 x 20 and the price is amazing! Only $20!

Next, I added this incredibly SOFT blanket.

Blankets make or break bedding. The cozier, the better. Is there anything better than hitting the sack wrapped up in this amazingness? No.
I wish you could reach through the screen and touch this blanket. It’s literally the softest. I love the neutral colors and the fur like vibe. I feel like I am in a rustic cabin in the woods!
Pair with some flannel sheets, and you have instant coziness!

It looks so beautiful draped at the end of the bed, but would look equally awesome in ANY room. (Well, except the bathroom. That may get a little weird.)

Add some simple holiday decor to “deck the halls”

Now that you’ve made things a little more cozy, you can really have some holiday fun. Walmart has a TON of simple, small items that inexpensively make a big statement!
Adding a few things to the existing night stands, or around the bed, made the room holiday perfection. I loved these little burlap Christmas berry “bursts” especially!
I also adored these little bark Christmas trees. Their natural vibe can fit well into a LOT of different decor styles.

I added a red stocking, with an initial of our guest to personalize things. I plan on filling this stocking with some simple treats or toiletries.
I also draped some simple greenery around the bed. I used fresh garland, but if you want something less maintenance, and less mess – I found a ton of beautiful garlands here

Finally, I added a bigger piece of “decor” with multiple useful functions.

I love having a storage bench of some type at the end of the bed. I can keep extra blankets, pillows and other linens in there in case guests get chilly. It’s also a great way to add additional seating!
This tufted storage ottoman was a gorgeous piece of furniture that I’m really happy with! It has a high end look at an affordable price!

(Not to mention it’s a handy place to store your Nerf guns! 🙂 )

So, what do you think?
Don’t you want to come stay in this holiday retreat?
All we need is a cozy fireplace, and a cup of hot cocoa, and we’re officially in the holiday season!

It’s easy to create a beautiful space when Walmart’s involved!
