Back to School with Transitional Pieces from Walmart

***We’re thrilled to team up again with Walmart and RewardStyle on this sponsored post. All opinions are our own!***

My kids start school in T-minus one week and I’m all the emotions. Part of me, relieved that our return to structure is just around the corner. Part of me, broken hearted that 4/5 kids will be in school all day. How did I get here already?

We did all of our back to school shopping this year at Walmart. I’ve mentioned it again and again, I’m just SO impressed by the style and quality of clothing there – especially lately. Not to mention, with a big family, we have to be sure we’re shopping smart and Walmart is always affordable!

As the years go by and I become a slightly more seasoned mother, I realize that often when back to school shopping occurs, I leave with ALL summer weather clothing items. True, school starts when the sun is still blazing hot, but in just a few short weeks, those morning temperatures drop and I’m headed BACK to the store to stock up on warmer clothing and light layers to get us through. This year, I tried to mix things up and pick pieces that would transition from the heat to the cool and last me even longer. I found the BEST stuff, not surprisingly, at Walmart

My twin girls LOVE dresses, and though not always conducive to PE, I like to snag them a few.  I was super happy with the two they picked because the style was on point, and I felt like they could be worn NOW with say, sandals…and later with booties and a denim jacket.

First up was this mixed pattern dress

Does this come in my size? I’m obsessed.
It has a vintage feel with the different floral prints, higher neckline and let’s not forget those GORGEOUS ruffle sleeves! The details are the cherry on top!
I also really appreciate the knee length style of this dress. It’s easier for her to run around the playground and not be AS worried.
This dress is semi sheer, but comes with a connected tank slip under. As a mom, I love the fact I don’t have to piece together underclothing for modesty purposes. It’s ALL there in one, making my job easier.
We paired the dress with these casual sandals for warmer weather, but would choose booties like these, when the weather cools off.

My other daughter choose this gorgeous green, embroidered shirt dress to “match her eyes” and I’d say she choose wisely!
It’s a gorgeous Fall green with a pop of color in the floral design and that ruffle is just the right touch!

I mean, THAT DETAIL!? It’s perfection!

One of my girls also wanted a casual, yet FUN, look that would transition well between seasons and boy did we find it.
Can you even with this little fashionista?

Bomber Jacket set/Jeans/Sneakers

I was super excited to find this leopard bomber jacket in a SET with the graphic tshirt already paired with it. This is GOLDEN because again, it makes my job so much easier. She has layers already put together, making those school mornings easier on ALL of us.
We love the fun leopard print, but you can also find a similar set in plain colors HERE.
She’ll wear just the graphic tee when it’s hot out at recess or pair it with the jacket on those chilly Fall morning drop offs.
Lots of bang for your buck!

I also need to mention these under $9 skinny jeans. I was really impressed with the thickness of the jean and the quality of stitching. I am counting on these lasting the whole year. I will add that we felt like they ran a size big, so if between sizes, I would size DOWN for your kiddos.

We can’t go ANY further without mentioning these higher top sneakers.
My girls LOVE wearing boots, but honestly, they’re not always the best choice for the playground.
These wedge sneakers have an athletic type sole enabling them to run and get around in them so easily.
I appreciate the combo of style and practicality.
My daughter just thinks they’re “SO COOL!”
They also come in a pewter color HERE.

Now let’s talk about BOYS fashion.
If I’m being realistic, my two boys don’t care as much about what they wear. Often, it’s all I have just to get them out of bball shorts in the dead of January.
This year, my 4th child starts Kindergarten and though my heart is breaking, I’m so excited to watch him bloom.
I wanted him to have clothing that allowed him to MOVE and also, be independent.
He’s still only 5, and sometimes struggles with things like tying his shoe and zippers.
I was so excited about the style, and SOLUTIONS I found at Walmart.

First up, these light layers!
This hoodie is a super light cotton that won’t sweat him out if the lunch hour gets a little warm. It comes in several fun colors.
I paired it with these STINKING CUTE, moto style jogger pants.
These are an answer to a lot of mom stress. They’re ELASTIC waisted, so he’ll be able to take bathroom breaks on his own. I also really love the jogger style of pants because he can move around in them freely and not worry about tripping.

Now, let’s talk about shoes.
Dare I say, these may be my FAVORITE find of the whole haul. They’re a stylish athletic boot style, that again, allows him to keep up during a fierce game of tag, but CHECK OUT THE SHOELACES! They stay permanently tied and are fastened with a velcro PANEL.
I mean, WHO IS THIS GENIUS that thought of this?
He can get them on and off so easily by himself and though I fully plan on teaching him to tie his shoe this year, this is a good solution for the time being.
I really, REALLY love these and feel like it is my duty to tell every parent of their awesomeness.
You can get them HERE.

As the temperatures drop, this light layer hoodie is perfect for pairing with this reversible insulated vest.
For some reason, this little guy prefers a vest over a jacket and this was the perfect fit and thickness. I love that it’s reversible so you basically get two vests in one!
Lighter, but still warm. The neutral colors will go easily with just about anything too!

As you can see, we cleaned up for back to school!
I’m excited to find such stylish options that will transition well into Fall AND excited to see how much I saved!
Walmart is hands down, the best place to stock up for back to school this year!
