Snow White’s Cottage: A House Built with Fairy Tale Style in Washington

This quirky, one-of-a-kind house in Olalla, Washington, looks like something out of a fairy tale. It’s known by the locals as “Snow White’s Cottage,” and it’s easy to imagine her living here with her little friends! It’s on the market for $775,000, so let’s take a look…

Snow White’s Cottage

The house sits on 7.5 acres.

The listing says:

Snow White and the seven dwarfs are putting their home up for sale. This is the most amazing storybook home you’ll ever find. Words can’t describe the meticulous detail that went into building! There’s not a square corner anywhere. Wood beams were hand carved, stained glass windows are everywhere, and the walls appear to more like a magical cave. Perfect for a B & B or a wedding business. Come witness the fantasy!

Each door was individually built by hand, so no two are exactly alike.

All of the cedar wood beams were carved by hand from trees that grew on the property.

According to an article about the house:

High-energy DIY builders Richey and Karen Morgan spent three decades crafting the personalized fantasy house and had it only half finished before selling it to the current owner in 2005.

The last owner promoted it as a wedding venue.

The Kitchen:

It has 4 bedrooms, 4.5 baths, and 2,800 square feet.

The walls were created by spreading plaster over wire mesh, so none of the rooms is perfectly square.

According to an article in Oregon Live:

A milk chocolate-colored roof looks as if it has melted over the structure. From its highest pitch near a pointy stone chimney, the roof spills all the way down stucco walls that are as bumpy and character-filled as anything Walt Disney drew.

“The roof stops just short of the foundation of the house, where walls swoop into a slight curve like a long gown Snow White might have worn in her kingly father’s court, after returning from being banished to the forest by her evil stepmother.”

The rocks surrounding the house were stained in various colors.

Real estate agent Rick Ellis acknowledges, “The trouble is people want to see it, but they don’t want to own it.”

It attracts plenty of lookiloos, though, who are eager to get a glimpse of Snow White’s Cottage.
