Surprises are, well…surprising.

I’ll never forget the day I met up with some girlfriends for lunch and my friend Megan had tears in her eyes.

“What’s wrong?” we all said, worried.

“I’m pregnant,” she said.

With four kids already and her youngest still a baby, this was a total shocker. Surprise #1. We talked through it and told her we’d be there for her every step of the way. We shed a few tears, laughed at this happy irony, and left with smiles and a growing excitement. Then about a month later we got a text from Megan. It said:

“I don’t know what to say. I’m speechless. It’s TWINS!!!”

After the initial shock wore off and her belly started to swell with a baby boy and girl, we all rallied in support. It would be hard, but it would be worth it. Today, those babies are nearly a year old. Life for my friend has been crazy to say the least, but seeing those two babies steal each other’s binkies and roll over each other like puppies playing, you can’t help but see what a destined blessing they are. 

Their lives are full of firsts, as are so many kids’ and the most rewarding thing as a parent is being able to witness those firsts.

Be Together, Play Together 

Childhood is life’s greatest gift and play is a huge part of that. I bet you can remember toys you had as a child, and I’ll bet some of your favorites were Little Tikes iconic toys like the Cozy Coupe and TotSports Basketball Set. I remember my little guy making his first basket on that set. In fact, we have an epic family video of him as a two year old at the top of our stairs saying “I lub battaball!” and he tosses the ball to sink it into his Little Tikes hoop at the bottom. Now I get to watch him play competitive basketball and I’m just as proud.
