A Holiday Look You Can Wear All Season Long

One of my treasured holiday memories is getting a new dress at Christmas time. We had a large family with 5 kids, and I’m sure my parents were on a tight budget. Yet, they always seemed to save enough nickels to buy us a new holiday outfit. Most of our clothing came from yard sales and thrift stores, but this time of year we got something totally new and just for us!

Here I am, 30-something years later, and a new holiday dress is still a tradition I love. I dress my kids of course, but also, love to snag a little something new for myself. It’s a special occasion, and with so many events, church services and parties, I definitely get my wear out of things.

My go-to shopping location of choice lately is Walmart.
I love being able to go into a store or conveniently shop online, and find exactly what I need for myself and the whole family!

I wanted to find a few versatile pieces that could be worn all holiday season – but also BEYOND the holidays. 
It’s nice to find things that will work all season long!
I put together a few pieces that I know you’re going to love. 
They’re stylish. They’re affordable. They’re versatile.

First up, THIS DRESS.

A holiday dress doesn’t necessarily need to be bright red and green. 
Take a bold floral, throw on a touch of bright red LIPSTICK, and you’ll make a statement!
This dress is BEYOND gorgeous. I couldn’t believe how flowy, well fitting, and high quality it was!
I also loved that it was a print that could be worn all winter, and into Spring – depending on what you paired with it.

You can change the whole vibe of a dress with simple accessories. We “holiday-ified” (which, in case you were wondering, is a word I made up), with a cozy, winter white, sherpa jacket, tall slouch boots, and the classic cognac bag. 

These boots   will make people think you stepped right off the high fashion streets of NYC. They’re classy, with a touch of edge. Throw these on with a pair of jeans and a cream sweater, or wear with this dress to a holiday party. They’re SURE to become a staple in your wardrobe. And, we just have to mention the PRICE. Have you ever seen such a great boot at that price point? I’m telling you – these are SLAYING!

I was just telling my husband the other night how much I adore a good cognac color. 
True story: He had to google “cognac”. 
(We don’t drink alcohol, so this became a whole history lesson…)
It’s just such a rich, warm brown!
This bag perfectly compliments the boots, but stand on its own as well. Wear it crossbody, or by the shorter handles – each way is equally handy!

The fact of the matter is, as fashionable as we want to be, the one thing that we CAN’T pick is the weather. In most places the holidays mean COLD. I never understand why so many holiday dresses are strapless and sleeveless. Give me a sleeve when it’s 0 degrees outside! Good thing I found the MOST amazing sherpa coat EVER.
It’s literally like wrapping yourself in the softest, warmest blanket EVER – and you can literally wear it with ANYTHING!
I love how the white pops against the bold colors of the dress, and deep cognac of the shoes and purse. 
This coat is fancy enough for a dressy soiree, but not overbearing. Plus, sherpa is EVERYWHERE this season!
 

Speaking of cold….

Don’t EVER be afraid to accessorize with a beanie and scarves! They’re a winter staple and look fantastic, even with a dressier look!
I love that the colors in this beanie pair so well with the colors in the dress!
