*This post is brought to you by Abercrombie Kids. We both agree that kids are pretty darn special and kids fashion is just as fun as they are.
Kids are pretty amazing human beings. Kids are brave, kind, talented, funny, and quite frankly some of the coolest beings on the planet. If you ever need a little inspiration or a pick-me-up, go spend a few hours around children. They have a light that shines brightly where adults’ have dimmed.
Kids come up with brilliant ideas (like new games and creative stories) and aren’t afraid to share them. They try new activities on the regular and give it their all. Children compete in sports, practice becoming artists, volunteer in their communities, and are all-over incredible humans.
We should be more like them.
Abercrombie Kids is a celebration of children and everything they do and everything they represent: innocence, fun, intelligence, and potential. Check out some of our favorite styles and the seven reasons that kids rock!
7 Reasons Kids Are the Coolest People on the Planet
1. Kids have so much personality.
It’s often surprising what kids know. Did you know a cow has four stomachs? They soak up everything they see and hear and are eager to learn more. I’ve started writing down all of the cool things my kids say. My kids’ quote journal is one of my favorite possessions. Kids have so much uninhibited personality and I envy that.
Abercrombie Kids has some fun clothes to help kids’ unique personalities shine through. I love letting my kids choose their own clothing because it tells me so much about their personality.
This seriously cool hologram tee that gives my shy kiddo some roar.
You can find all kinds of fun tees that help kids flex their personality here at Abercrombie Kids. In fact, a lot of them are included in the 40% off sale happening right now!

2. Kids are brave.
A lot of times, my kids are the first to try something scary. They’ll jump off the high dive, try out for a team, participate in the school talent show, and run for student body officer. This summer I had an idea that I wanted to try. I wanted my kids to do something to make a difference in the community. I wanted them to see that there are ways they can help other people and spread their light.
My husband’s grandmother is in an assisted living facility and I wanted to take the kids and my nieces and nephews to visit her. But not only her, all the other residents as well. I sat down with them and explained how some of the people at the facility get very lonely.
“Would you guys like to help me make them happy?” I asked.
“Yes!” they all said and they got to work coming up with ideas, making paper flowers, and getting treats and balloons to take to the residents.
It was one of the most special experiences I’ve shared with my children. Just seeing their bravery as they went into each resident’s room—complete strangers—and asked if they’d like a balloon and a flower.
They sat down on beds, held hands, and listened as each resident told them stories and gave them advice.
Kids can make a difference.
3. They are kind.
In my experiences, kids are incredibly kind. I’ve seen two girls help another girl up on the playground and carry her inside when she scraped her knee. I knew of a boy who asked his mother if he could bring two lunches to school because he knew of another boy who didn’t have one.
It brings tears to my eyes to see kids being kind all on their own.
As we walked into room after room at the assisted living facility, I had to stand back and marvel at the inherent kindness that kids can display. It’s great news for our future.
4. Kids are funny!
You probably know as well as I do that kids say the darndest things. Kids are awesome because they can laugh at anything. When embarrassing things happen to them, they laugh. When I broke the news of where babies come from to my 8-year-old son, he stopped, his face completely blank, then he did what I least expected—broke into giggles. I couldn’t help but laugh too.
Thank goodness for kids and their comic relief.
Above: When I explained that we’d be going to visit the residents at the assisted living facility, my nephew Noah looked up and said in all seriousness, “Do we have to kiss their cheeks?” We all got a good laugh out of that one.
Above: Piper and Cole, best cousins playing matchy-matchy in the Abercrombie Kids Everybody Collection. This gender-neutral collection is the coolest ever! It’s for every kid, no gender rules.
I want to dress my kids in every single item from this collection. I love the clothes and I love what they stand for. Girls can do what boys can do and boys can do what girls can do. Check out this adorable logo track jacket. I want one for the whole family!
5. They do cool things.
Kids accomplish some pretty amazing things, often on their own will and drive. Every summer my kids participate in a community kids triathlon. It’s the most inspiring thing to see kids of all ages jump into the pool to swim their hearts out, hop on their bikes (some still in training wheels) and then finish with a run that even some adults can’t do. And what’s even cooler is that they do this all for charity. They race for a cause like Beds for Kids or the Red Cross.
6. Kids are persistent.
They don’t give up easily. One afternoon, my son had it in his mind to keep shooting baskets until he made 500. He was out there for three hours and only stopped occasionally for a drink or a potty break. If we could harness that type of persistence, we’d all have promotions by now.
7. Kids make a difference.
Today’s children are tomorrow’s future. They are strong, compassionate, bright, and energetic. They can light up a room and make the dim bright. Kids are cool, funny, and they make a difference. If you want to find opportunities in your community where your kids can make a difference, check out JustServe.org. I promise you, it’s one of the most profound things you’ll ever do for and with your children.
