(This post was sponsored by Stitch Fix, but all views and opinions are my own.)
As a woman, I often find myself giving and giving to others, and forgetting to take care of myself.
Of course, selfless service is a wonderful characteristic, but you can’t draw and nourish from a well that’s dry (or so my mom tells me). One of my goals for the New Year is to find little ways to take care of ME. Whether that be by taking 15 minutes each day to read a book (or just sit in silence!) or making myself a healthy lunch instead of snacking on leftover kids’ macaroni and cheese, those little things are IMPORTANT.
One way I’m taking care of myself, and TREATING myself, is with Stitch Fix. Before I tell you all the details, I want you to know that Stitch Fix is offering everyone a FREE fix. You can try it, totally free, no strings attached. If you’ve been waiting to try Stitch Fix out for yourself, or even if this is the first time you’ve ever heard of it, NOW is the time to try it!
By the way, all the photos include clothing/accessories that were ACTUALLY in my Fix!
(How darling is that camo sweater? And the jeans? I’ll wear this stuff CONSTANTLY)
If you’re not familiar with Stitch Fix, I need you to first know that it’s sincerely one of my favorite things. I’ve been getting fixes for a couple years now. They’re an AMAZING company.
Stitch Fix is, in short, a personal styling service.
When you schedule a fix (you pick when and how often), they will send 5 items (shoes, jewelry, shirts, dresses, jeans etc) to your door with FREE shipping. These items are based on YOUR wants, styles, body and needs. I don’t know how they do it, but they nail my style, budget, and size almost every time!!
Plus, Stitch Fix has more recently expanded their lines to include petite sizes, plus sizes and maternity! There really is something for everyone! They even have a MENS’ line! (Wouldn’t that be a fun treat for your man?!)
Again, right now, they’re offering you a FREE Fix...sent right to your door.
Keep what you want, and send back in a prepaid envelope what you don’t.
Breaking it down in more detail now for you. Here are the steps, along with some tips, to getting your BEST Fix.
1. Fill out a personal style profile.
This profile asks you lots of questions about who you are, what colors and styles you like, what your body is like and MORE. I was SUPER specific on mine and you should be too. For example, I told them I had 5 young kids, worked from home, preferred clothes that were modest, and that I NEVER wore the color yellow. I told them I had a concern with my post 5 baby belly and hated clingy fabrics and I most often ask them to stick to an UNDER $50 an item budget.
Another really great way to help your stylist NAIL your style is to create a Pinterest board with all your favorite outfits pinned. You can even search “Stitch Fix” and find a lot of items Stitch Fix actually carries. They may not have a specific item in stock at the time of your fix, but it at least helps them to see what you love. A Pinterest board can REALLY help them NAIL your style and wants. Just include the link to your board in your style profile!
2. You pay $20.
This $20 is for the stylist’s effort and time to put together the clothes for you. This $20 is applied as CREDIT for the actual items. So, the $38 sweater I fell in LOVE with? I already paid $20, so I only pay $18 more. Got that? But, remember, if you sign up NOW, you can get this fee waived. So, you don’t pay the $20! Now, I have had LOTS of questions about the cost of the items themselves. The items are equivalent to the quality and price tags of most department stores. You get what you pay for and you’re not going to get $5 t shirts that lose shape after one wash. These are items that will last forever or close to it.
That being said, I’m excited to let you know that Stitch Fix has expanded their line recently to include MANY more budget-conscious items. I’ve seen a lot more items in my fixes UNDER $50 and that makes me happy. Just remember to discuss your budget with your stylist via your style profile.
3. Your stylist picks out 5 items, based on your style profile and sends it to you on the date you request.
You get this super fun box delivered to your door and I always do a happy dance when I see it. It’s like Christmas each time my Stitch Fix box arrives! You can schedule these fixes to come whenever YOU want them to. Let’s say, you just want a fix at the beginning of each season, or maybe you only want them for special occasions like a Valentine’s date or a vacation. You can also schedule them to auto ship monthly so you don’t have to remember to schedule them. There is an option for everyone! Your fix also comes with style cards. These cards show the items in your box and offer a few suggestions regarding how to style them. This is great for those of us who may not be total fashionistas! I’ve put together many a darling outfit from my stylist’s suggestions.
4. You try on the clothes at HOME (and never have to set foot in another store!).
This is probably my favorite part. No more dressing rooms where I’m trying to nurse the baby with one arm and roadblock a 3 year old from crawling under the doors to wave at the half naked lady in the room next to me (you know it’s happened to you). I can try on everything on in my bedroom during nap time. Stress relief! Not to mention it saves me SO much time. If you’re like me, shopping (much less shopping ALONE) isn’t something that happens often, if at all, so if I can avoid physically setting foot in a store, I consider that WINNING at life. Another perk of Stitch Fix is, you can venture out of your “norm”. Trust your stylist. Even if you don’t think it’s your exact style, try it on and give it a whirl. There have been several times I’ve been pleasantly surprised.
5. You pick what you want, and send back what you don’t.
Stitch Fix provides a prepaid envelope. What you don’t like, send back. Any items that don’t fit your style or don’t feel comfortable, go back for FREE with no skin off your back. Anything you keep, your $20 styling fee (again, waived this month HERE) will apply as credit towards the item. PLUS, if you do decide to keep all 5 items, you get an automatic 25% off discount! Then you just log in to your account, check out, and pay for what you want to keep then send back what you don’t want to keep– if any.
6. Send your stylist a note regarding your fix.
After you check out, you are given the option to leave your stylist a note. Tell them what you loved. Tell them what you didn’t like and be sure to specify WHY. Was the color awful on you? Was the neckline too low? This will really help her for your next Fix. A couple tips that will help. If you LOVE what your stylist sent you, put a note to request her for next time. I will say, it did take 2-3 fixes for my stylist to totally GET my style, but we’ve been on a roll ever since. Don’t give up after just one fix and be as specific as possible.
Stitch Fix is really a FUN, budget friendly, and EASY way to treat yourself and step up your wardrobe. I can’t wait for your to try your first Fix TOTALLY free.
All you have to do is sign up HERE.
I promise you, you’ll be smiling ear to ear once that box arrives on your doorstep!
Now, go do something nice for yourself! You deserve it!
