Today I discovered the work of Austin Patterson Disston Architects and swooned over this beach house with nautical style overlooking Moriches Bay. The charming entry hall sets the tone for the rest of the house, decorated in shades of blue and white. Take a look!
The dining room has built-in glass-front china cabinets flanking the window:
The serene blue and white living room has a view of the water outside:
The traditional white kitchen has a beautiful barrel-vaulted ceiling that accents the range:
The sunny breakfast nook:
Stuart Disston, AIA, says his designs aim for “intimate scale” to feel comfortable, not imposing.
This bedroom and bath are so pretty, I can hardly stand it. Who wouldn’t want to wake up here?
The woodwork and trim details add character to each of the rooms in different ways.
Austin Patterson Disston has been a full-service architectural and planning firm since 1982 in Southport, Connecticut, and Quogue, Long Island.
According to the architect:
Like a ship looking out to sea, this new 3,800 square-foot Shingle Style house overlooks both Moriches Bay and a large marsh conservancy. Its many nautical references contribute to the shipboard feel: round windows, a compass floor inset, bead-board paneling, upper and lower porches.
